How can a window be invisible to screen recording?

Think of it like one-way glass. You see your CloakPane window perfectly on your own Mac — but anything that captures your screen (screenshots, screen recorders, or screen-sharing on Zoom, Meet and Teams) just doesn't pick it up. Where your window sits, they only capture the desktop behind it. Nothing you do is required — it simply never shows up.

Does it work on video calls and screen-sharing?

Yes. When you share your screen on a call, CloakPane windows are excluded from the shared image. You can keep a private tab open while presenting without a second thought.

Is this just incognito mode?

No. Incognito only avoids saving history on your own machine — anyone looking at your screen still sees everything. CloakPane hides the window from capture and encrypts what it stores, and includes a normal incognito mode on top.

Will my logins and bookmarks come over?

You can import bookmarks and history from Chrome, Safari, Brave and Edge in a click — folders and site icons included. Each profile keeps its own imported data.

Do you collect or sell my data?

We never sell your data and nothing about your browsing leaves your Mac. There are no accounts, and the sites you visit, your tabs and history stay encrypted on your device. To improve the app, it does send anonymous, aggregate diagnostics — app version, crashes, and which features are used — never anything about what you browse, and not linked to you. A Mac running macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. CloakPane is a native macOS app — no extensions or other browsers required.
